September is the first month in our new Time Traveler series! The theme this month is Castles + Catapults. We hope these historical themed projects will inspire children to learn more about the exciting medieval age and the renaissance era! Your child will learn all about family crests and what life was like for people living in medieval castles and villages. They’ll even experiment making their own colorful paints from fruits and vegetables.
The first project you’ll design and construct your own castle. Then customize it with felt and stickers. You can even decorate your castle characters and go on an adventure!
In the second project you can build your own catapult and test your aim with a target! Feel free to experiment with the angle of your catapult to make it fire higher or farther.
Extend the fun with the explore! magazine, where you can learn all about the Middle Ages, the time of castles, kings and brave knights. Follow along with Steve while he defends a castle and learn how to draw your own castle. You’ll find directions on how to make your own royal crown, stained glass and your customized family crest, just to name a few.
