How we did it:

Materials List

  1. vine (or paper twist)
  2. beads
  3. embroidery thread
  4. feathers
  5. scissors
  1. We cut a vine from the garden for our frame, and grabbed some embroidery threads and a few beads.

  2. Maddie bent her vine to see what size she needed her frame to be, then we wound the circle together with thread. I tied it for her. She cut another piece of thread, and started winding and looping it on.

  3. I showed her she could weave, and wrap, and go back and forth with the thread. Often I tied the knots for her--skinny string is difficult for little fingers to manage!

  4. She wove several threads, then added a few beads.

  5. When it was done to her satisfaction, we tied feathers onto the bottom.

  6. When it was finished, she hung it above her sleeping space right away, very certain that she would have sweet dreams!
