How we did it:

Materials List

  1. manila folder - or cardboard
  2. duct tape
  3. scissors
  1. We used a piece of manilla folder as the base of our wallet, but you can also use thick card stock or cardboard. No matter what material your base is made from, it needs to be 2 7/8" X 6 3/8" (measurement after it has been folded in half) so that it can hold a dollar bill.

  2. Cover the inside and outside of the folder with strips of duct tape. I cut the pieces of tape and then he put them on the wallet where he wanted them to go.

  3. Once the entire inside and outside of the folder has been covered with duct tape, it is time to cover the sides so that money doesn't fall out. Fold a strip of duct tape in half (sticky sides together).

  4. Put the strip of folded tape on the end so that it overlaps onto each side of the wallet. Tape it on each side to secure it. Repeat on the other end.

  5. Add additional tape to give it a more decorative look and fold it in half to complete it.

  6. He is so proud of his new wallet and his friends can't believe he made it himself! After we were done he said, "What else can we make with duct tape? A lunchbox?!".
