Flexible "Glass" Sculpture

We recently took a trip to a glass blowing store and my daughter watched the glass blowers twist and move the glass into all sorts of cool things. I wanted to duplicate this experience for her at home with her own flexible "glass" sculpture.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. contact paper
  2. scissors
  3. tissue paper scraps
  4. wire
  1. Begin by laying down some thin-gauge flexible wire on a square of clear contact paper. You can find wire at your local craft or floral store.

  2. Next, lay out some tissue papers scraps or squares. My daughter delighted in pressing down each piece of tissue paper to make her sculpture.

  3. When my daughter was happy with her handiwork, I trimmed the contact paper around the wire, being sure to leave a little overlap.

  4. My daughter had fun bending and twisting her pretend glass sculpture around like the glass blowers did. The wire makes it flexible and bendable!

  5. We even tried shining a flashlight through it to make it look bright and hot like at the glass blower! Have fun creating!
