Glue Batik Canvas Bag

How we did it:
Materials List
- glue
- fabric paint (watered down)
- paintbrushes
-
We used blue glue for this so Emma could see her picture as she created it. She used the bottle of glue to draw a picture right onto a cotton canvas bag we had. When she finished her work of art, we let the bag dry overnight. I love projects with several steps that we can spread out throughout the week.
-
Once the glue was dry, we watered down a few different colors of fabric paint and Emma got to painting her bag. She painted right over the glue.
-
We let the paint completely dry while Emma talked about all the things she would carry in her new "purse."
-
Next, we added the bag to a bowl of warm water and allowed it to sit a couple of hours to loosen the glue. I tossed it into the washer after it soaked.
-
When we pulled it out of the washing machine, the glue was gone and Emma had a beautiful hand-painted bag to be proud of.
