  1. grocery store ad

  4. glue
  5. notebook
  1. Each week when the grocery store mailer, we use the ads to practice letter sounds. Together, we cut out items that we'd like to buy, eat, or just what we think would be fun to add to our grocery store alphabet book. It has actually turned into a great time to talk about different fruits and vegetables, what it means for items to be on sale, and how much things cost.

  2. We made our own alphabet book by writing a letter on each page of a regular notebook. This was the perfect way to sneak in a little writing practice for my son.

  3. Tape or glue each item onto the page of the letter that it starts with. We usually chant while we tape it "Banana starts with B - /b/ /b/ /b/" or "Soap starts with S - /s/ /s/ /s/".

  4. We really look forward to adding to our alphabet book each week. It has turned into a competition to see which letter has the most and which letters still don't have any at all.
