Layered Paper Fan

How we did it:
Materials List
- paper - We used 12x12 and one piece of copy paper.
- glue
- ribbon
- scissors
- colored pencils
-
We're very fond of pretty paper in our house, so Madeleine chose two patterns that went together very nicely.
-
The third would be drawn by herself! She chose four colored pencils that matched the papers beautifully. (What a fun surprise to find that we had just the right colors!)
-
After she had finished designing and coloring the third, she decided which would be the main piece, and trimmed the others,
-
and arranged them all just so, until she was satisfied. She applied glue to the backs of the trimmed pieces,
-
and pasted them to the large sheet.
-
I made the first fold, at about 3/4 an inch, to show her how it was done. "I know how to do this, Mama!" she said, excitedly. "Here you go!" I said. This way...
-
...and that way...
-
and then we folded up the end. She put glue on both sides of the bottom,
-
and she wrapped a cute matching ribbon snugly around the bottom.
-
"I think it needs another one--a ribbon tied in a bow, too!" she urged. "Alright." Perfect.
