Origami Fortune Cookie

How we did it:
Materials List
- craft foam
- drawing compass
- hook and loop fasteners
- dollar bill
- paper
- scissors
- pen
-
Step 1
Gather your materials.
-
Step 2
Draw a circle with a compass onto a sheet of craft foam. Make the circle as large as you can without going off the craft foam. Then, cut it out.
-
Step 3
Fold the circle in half and crease it.
-
Step 4
Open the circle and fold it in thirds perpendicular to the crease you just made. Then, set it aside.
-
Tip!
Perpendicular means at a 90 degree angle to any given line, plane, or surface.
-
Step 5
Turn the fortune cookie over and place one hook fastener and one loop fastener about 1 ½ inches from the center crease.
-
Step 6
Write a fortune on a thin strip of paper. We wrote “Happy New Year!” and “Wishing you good luck & fortune in the Year of the Dog!” Then, insert a dollar bill and the fortune into the “pocket” you made by folding the circle in thirds.
-
Step 7
Fold the fortune cookie in half, connecting the two halves by sticking the fasteners together.
-
Step 8
Puff up the fortune cookie by pushing in the sides. Now your fortune cookie is ready for gifting!
