We have been working hard to create games for my son's 7th birthday party. He had a Carnival theme, so we wanted easy games the kids could make themselves and enjoy playing. This was a super easy game to put together. The kids had a great time tossing pennies at the party. It was simple enough that even the youngest party-goers could win!
How we did it:
- circular items for tracing
- markers - optional
- various craft materials - optional
Gather all materials. We used poster board because we wanted a large target. You could also use construction paper for a smaller target. Also, we used red, yellow, and blue poster board to go with our circus theme.
The kids went for a hunt around the house for circular things. This was particularly fun for my preschooler. They found lots of different circles in the kitchen and their playroom. We decided to use their large toy tub, a mixing bowl, and a candy dish to make a large, medium, and small circle.
We traced each object on a different color of poster board using a pencil.
After all three items were traced, my older kids cut the circles out. They got about halfway through before asking me to finish. Their hands got tired trying to cut through the poster board.
We used tacky glue to glue the circles together and make a target.
Since we were using this for a Carnival Party, we found some clown and circus coloring pages on the internet. My 3-year-old and 7 year-old loved helping to color the pictures for the game.
We cut out the colored pictures and glued them to the target. Then, I helped the kids write the name of the game on their target so they could color it in. The game made a great addition to our carnival games and it was so quick and easy to put together.
