How we did it:
- play dough
- paper leaf
- pipe cleaners - (optional)
- googly eyes - (optional)
I cut out a simple leaf shape from green construction paper and set out the playdough for both of my kids. "Let's create some bugs to live on our leaf." I told them.
They were excited to get started. I decided to grab some googly eyes and pipe cleaners to make our bug creations even more interesting. You could also use rocks, sticks, beads, buttons, or uncooked pasta.
The bugs they created were set on the leaf. Some resembled real bugs and others were a made up species. My 3 year old wanted to give each one a name and make them into a family.
It was so fun to see how creative the kids got with their bugs. Because this is a low mess project it is easy to do inside, but I also think it would be fun to do outside with nature as your inspiration.
