Portable Doll Dress-up Board

Portable Doll Dress-up Board

My three-year-old is coming into her own when it comes to fashion and dressing herself and having an opinion about what she wears. So we made a doll dress-up board where she could unleash her inner fashion designer and design her own doll clothes. It all packs up into a go-anywhere travel board so she can play anywhere she wants.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. cardboard
  2. felt
  3. glue
  4. markers
  5. pom-poms
  6. scissors
  7. sandwich bag / small ziplock bag
  8. tape
  9. buttons
  10. beads
  1. Gather up your supplies. We used a cereal box for the board's base, and colored felt (and decorative doo-dads, like beads) for all of the doll pieces. It was fun to see what kinds of designs my daughter came up with!

  2. To start, we glued some white felt to the cardboard to use as the base of the board.

  3. Then we cut out a little person shape from some tan felt. If your child is older, they can draw their own person and then cut out the shape.

  4. Then we added some hair and eyes and drew on a face. We also added a bathing suit as the base so the dolly is never without clothes. We glued all these pieces on.

  5. To create the clothes, we first drew an outline of a dress.

  6. Then we cut out the dress.

  7. Once we had one dress complete, my three-year-old used that as a guide and traced the pattern to create other dresses.

  8. She drew on the dresses and glued items to decorate her designs. It was fun to her one-of-a-kind designs come to life.

  9. Once all of her designs (and doggy) were cut out, we taped a sandwich bag to the back of the cardboard.

  10. My daughter loves bringing along her dress-up board everywhere she goes and playing with her fashionable doll. Felt sticks on felt, so the pieces stay on while she plays.
