Spring Bonnet

How we did it:
Materials List
- paper bag - large
- paint & paint brush
- hot glue (and hot glue gun)
- artificial flowers
- lace
-
There are so many ways to decorate these hats once you have the technique down. You can use markers, glitter, stickers or whatever else your little one desires.
-
First, we folded over our bag, rolling outward. Once I started it my daughter could easily continue with the rolling.
-
When she got the hat down low enough to fit on her head we worked the paper bag, sculpting it into a bonnet shape. We have used this technique to make pirate hats in the past as well.
-
Emma chose her color of paint and used a sponge brush to paint it just the right color.
-
Once the paint was dry it was time to add some lace trim. (Ribbon would work, too.) Emma is starting to learn to use a glue gun. I have been working with her under close supervision, of course. For young children, I would recommend tacky glue or having this be a grown-up only step.
-
She added some artificial flowers and a sweet little glittery bird to finish off her bonnet.

The perfect hat for spring!
