Turkey Pizza

I have been trying to get my son to try peppers for awhile now. He keeps turning them away. I found some really sweet peppers and had him help me create a turkey pizza using them. Guess what! He likes them a little now. He still doesn't love them, but he was willing to try them--which is a start. I think it's because kids are more prone to try foods that they've helped make.
How we did it:
Materials List
- bread (1)
- tomato sauce (2 spoonfuls)
- shredded mozzarella
- peppers (1 each: sweet red, yellow, and orange)
- olive (1)
- tomato (1)
- canned mushrooms (2 pieces)
- cookie cutter (turkey)
- plastic knife
-
We started by cutting a turkey out of a sandwich thin with a cookie cutter.
-
Then my son added a couple of spoonfuls of tomato sauce and sprinkled mozzarella cheese on top of it.
-
My son practiced his cutting skills by slicing the sweet peppers with a plastic knife.
-
A bit of tomato was added to represent the waddle and a little of the yellow pepper was cut to be the beak.
-
We added the pepper slice feathers to the back of the turkey. A bit of black olive was then added for the eyeball and two little bits of mushroom were added for the turkey's legs. Gobble, gobble!
