I love spending time baking with my kids. I have wonderful memories of baking with my mom at a young age. I hope to give my kids good memories in the kitchen, too. My boys love to come help me bake! They have fun dumping out the ingredients and mixing them. Then we all have fun eating our treats in the end. Baking is one of our special times together.
How we did it:
- butter (1/2 c)
- bag of vanilla chips (1)
- self-rising flour (1 1/4 c)
- sugar (3/4 c)
- vanilla extract (1 tsp)
- eggs (3)
- mixing bowl
- baking dish
- cooking spray
I start out by gathering all of my ingredients. When you have kids helping you in the kitchen, it's good to try and be ready when they come to help.
I added the butter to the saucepan and started to melt on high heat. My 4-year-old then added the vanilla chips to the pan. (Of course we tasted a few first.) I continued to mix the butter and chips together over medium-high heat until melted.
Meanwhile, next to me, my son started pouring the dry ingredients into our mixing bowl.
I chose to crack the eggs for him. He then mixed the ingredients together while I was melting the butter and vanilla chips together.
I then added the melted butter and vanilla chips mixture to the mixing bowl. My son and I mixed this up well.
We then added it to our baking dish that we had already added cooking spray to. We baked it at 350 degrees for 30 -35 min or until brown.
When done let cool before eating. We love tasting our yummy treats...and also enjoy sharing them with our family and friends!
