Animal Bread Rolls

Animal Bread Rolls

We always have rolls at brunch around our house, so I decided to mix it up and get creative with this table staple. I was surprised how easy it was to turn simple bread rolls into little balls of bread that looked like animals. I am sure you will have fun creating -- and snacking  -- just like I did! My favorite was the little cat. What will yours be?

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. bread dough
  2. scissors
  3. edible color marker - optional
  1. Gather your materials!

  2. Start with the bread dough. We bought some dinner roll dough and defrosted them, but you can make them from scratch if you have time!

Place the bread on a baking sheet and let the bread dough rise according to the instructions.

  3. Once the bread dough has risen, use a pair of clean scissors and create 2 large snips along the back of your bread. Then, gently pull them forward so they don't stick back down. These will become the ears of your creature!

Try different types of cuts to make different animals, such as short cuts for cat ears or long ones for bunny ears. You can even do multiple cuts for a spiked porcupine!

  4. Time to cook! Bake the bread rolls according to the instructions. We baked them until the tops were lightly golden.

  5. Decorate your animal bread! We used a food decorating pen and created some cute little faces.

  6. You’re done! Enjoy your creations and share them with family and friends. Use the same technique to create your favorite animals.
