Bucket + Tape = Drums

Bucket + Tape = Drums

Playing music is a fun creative outlet and a great way to express our emotions without saying anything. The kids and I had fun making this drum out of reclaimed materials we had around the house. Best part (for my, anyway): Thanks to the flexible packing tape, the drum is not very loud.

Ages:
3 - 9
Est. Time:
<30 mins

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. bucket
  2. packing tape/mailing tape
  3. yarn (optional)
  4. stickers (decorations)
  1. Cover the top of the bucket with tape. Make sure that the tape overlaps and that there are no holes. I would recommend doing two layers of tape so that it's strong enough to take a beating.

  2. Wrap more tape around the outside rim to help keep it secure.

  3. Grab the yarn, stickers, and other decorations and personalize the drum. You can use wooden spoons, pencils, and sticks to beat the drum. (Or if you want to get more crafty, make your own from a bouncy ball, pencil, and yarn.)
