Clay Bracelets

Clay Bracelets

My daughter thought of this fun way to make bracelets--all on her own--one evening. They came out so beautifully, I just had to share!

Ages:
4 - 9

<1 hour

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. oven-bake clay
  2. parchment paper
  1. The first time we did this we used pale colors of clay and added stripes and polka dots afterwards with paint. This time, with our bright color choices, we didn't need to add anything. We started by preheating the oven to 275 degrees.

  2. Oven-bake clay is pretty tough when you first open it, but, after it's worked for a bit, it softens up.

  3. When our clay was easy to work with, we rolled it into snake-like rolls. You can choose to mix colors, or keep it simple with just one color.

  4. We estimated the size by seeing if it we could get it on without breaking it. (I think using another bracelet for reference might be a better way to do this.) Once we had the size down, we just pinched the ends together and placed the bracelets on our parchment lined baking sheet. We baked them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes.

  5. When the bracelets cooled down, they hardened and were ready to wear. I love how colorful they came out! We made the special one with the mini lips painted on it as a "talk when appropriate to talk" reminder for school. Sometimes a girl just needs a little reminder!
