Craft Stick Pencil Holder

Craft Stick Pencil Holder

What’s more fun than creating a project kids can see being used around the house? Make one to organize paintbrushes, crayons or markers for desks and play tables.

Ages:
3 - 7
Est. Time:
1-2 hours

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. craft sticks
  2. mod podge
  3. colored paper
  4. paint brush (or sponge brush)
  5. tube-shaped cardboard container (like a Pringles can)
  6. rubber bands
  7. ribbon (string or yarn would work, too)
  8. scissors
  1. Gather your materials.

  2. If needed, trim down the container so that it’s about the same height as a craft stick. Ask a grownup for assistance with this.

  3. Trim the paper to fit around the container. Use the Mod Podge to glue the paper to the container. Let it dry.

  4. Use the Mod Podge to glue craft sticks vertically to the container. (The sticks shouldn’t extend past the bottom of the container, otherwise the container won’t stand up by itself.) Make sure to cover the whole container.

  5. Wrap the rubber bands around the container so the craft sticks dry in place. Once dry, remove the rubber bands and glue on additional shapes and designs. Or tie ribbon around the container for an extra touch of sweetness.
