Foil Mosaic

Add a sparkle to any art piece with aluminum foil like we did with this mosaic snail.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. aluminum foil
  2. tissue paper
  3. design on cardboard or craft paper
  4. glue
  1. Draw a design on a thick piece of craft paper or cardboard. He had a specific snail design we had in mind so we copied a coloring page onto card stock.

  2. Rip the aluminum foil and tissue paper into squares and crumple them up into little balls.

  3. We made a ton of little balls to get us started, but then we still had to make more to finish the snail. Ripping and crumpling was his favorite part so he didn't mind.

  4. Put a thick coat of glue on your design (or part of your design).

  5. Gently press the tissue paper balls or aluminum foil balls into the glue on your design.

  6. It is easier to work on one section at a time. That way if you want to take a break and come back to it if you need to.

  7. Completely cover your design and let it dry. We loved how the aluminum foil added a sparkle and different texture to the art. If it were up to me, we would have covered most of the snail in it, but he had a certain color scheme in mind so we went with that. The aluminum is going to make this snail go at a TURBO pace!
