How we did it:
- air-dry clay
- heart-shaped cookie cutters
- carving tool
- tea light candles
I always save jars for crafts like this. There are so many things you can do with old jam jars.
We first pressed our clay on the jar covering the entire outside.
Next Emma used the cookie cutter to make heart shapes into the clay.
She used a wooden tool to carve out the clay inside the hearts. Leaving heart cut outs which will be the windows to our candle light. When all of the hearts were done we set our jar to dry over night.
The next day we painted the clay (not the heart openings) with a red acrylic paint.
Our Valentine's Day luminaries came out so beautiful. The kids request I light them every evening.
