How we did it:

Materials List

  1. sand
  2. fabric protector
  3. water
  4. large clear container
  5. cup - to pour from
  1. Gather your materials!

  2. In a well ventilated area, lay out some sand on a piece of wax paper. Spray fabric protector over the sand until it is damp. Mix it around with a stirring stick so that the sand is evenly coated. Wait about 20 minutes for it to dry.

We applied a second coat to make sure it was fully saturated.

  3. Once the sand is dry, transfer it into pouring cups.

We had some clumps in our stand, so we broke them up with a stirring stick.

  4. Fill a large container with water and get ready to start playing!

Pour the sand into the water and see what happens. We had so much fun trying to make cool shapes and building towers.

When you are done playing with the sand in the water, carefully pour out the water and lay it on a paper towel. Let it dry for a few minutes and then you can keep playing!
