Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
My son and I have been baking in the kitchen since I could get him to sit up in his highchair. He started out banging pans and spoons and now he is able to help with all the pouring and mixing of ingredients. This is one of our special times that we get to spend together. And how fun to end up with a special treat to taste at the end.
How we did it:
- self-rising flour
- canola oil (1/3 cup)
- brown sugar (2/3 cup)
- eggs (1 large)
- vanilla extract (1 tsp)
- rolled oats (1/2 C )
- raisins (1/2 C )
Sit out all the ingredients you will need. Also get out a mixer, spoons, measuring cups, and a cookie sheet. If you do not have an electric mixer, you can use hand mixers or a spoon. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees before you start mixing so the oven is ready when you are done with the mix.
Have the kids pour in all the wet ingredients first and mix. Then let them repeat this with the dry ingredients. My son loves this part!
Once the batter is all mixed up, it is time to spoon it out on to the cookie sheet. I cover my cookie sheet with foil first.
When the cookie sheet is filled with cookie dough, place it in the oven and bake for 15-17 minutes or until lightly brown.
Remove the cookies from the oven when done and let cool before eating. My son loves tasting his baking creation. He gives them two thumbs up.
