Pasta Bead Sequencing
This a simple "sanity saver" activity--for the car, the restaurant, the doctor's office, church, etc...basically any place you need a quiet activity for the little ones that will grab their attention span for a few moments. (We all want that, don't we?! *wink wink*). This activity is to be used in conjunction with the Kool-Aid dyed pasta.
How we did it:
- pasta (5 pieces of each color)
- pipe cleaners (5)
- card stock
- contact paper (optional)
- laminator (optional)
Start by printing out the sequencing printable on card stock. If you want the printable to withstand longer use, then cover it in clear contact paper or laminate it.
Next, separate five of each color in pasta. Then cut the pipe cleaners so that their length equals the width of five pasta pieces laid end to end. (V.'s not quite old enough for scissors yet--but of course this is a step that slightly older kids can do on their own).
Finally, with the printable, the pipe cleaners, and pasta, have you child follow the corresponding card to order the pasta into the correct sequence. If you'd like, store the pasta and the printable in your diaper bag so you can pull it out at anytime. (The printable is 4"x6," so it fits in a small baggie if you print it at "actual size.")
