Pick-Up Sticks

This is a classic game that only requires a tool to cut a few straight sticks. Something fun for a venture into the wood...or into the wild of your own backyard.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. pruning tool (for cutting sticks)
  1. You'll only need a tool for this one... so you can wander and find a few straight sticks.

  2. We decided upon a good length. I handed Maddie and Trev each a sample stick, and said "go cut some straight sticks this long."

  3. They found them and stripped them.

  4. Then they cut them...

  5. and, when there were a dozen sticks or so, we had a game!

  6. It had been a while since we'd played! I had to remind them that the object is to pick up the most sticks, one at a time. When another stick moves during your turn, your turn is over.

  7. This is their new favorite game!
