Q-tip Flowers

Q-tip Flowers

It never ceases to amaze me what my children will find to create with. Q-tips are always a favorite with my 5-year old and on this day they became a favorite of mine as well. Watching her transform q-tips and a styrofoam ball into a beautiful creation was wonderful.

Ages:
2 - 7
Est. Time:
<30 mins

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. q-tips
  2. scissors
  3. pipe cleaner
  4. watercolor paints
  5. paintbrush
  6. styrofoam ball
  1. My daughter had started this project and I grabbed a few things to join her. I wasn't sure exactly where this was going, but I liked following along with her creative idea!

  2. We sat and cut q-tips in half. This was a little hard for her and took some extra mommy muscle to get them all cut.

  3. Emma began to stick the q-tips into the styrofoam ball. What would she make I wondered...a sun, a planet.....a flower, of course!

  4. She added color to the ball using watercolor paints which was great fun to see how the watercolors looked on different textures.

  5. When the flower was all painted and dry Emma added a pipe cleaner stem and showed them off in a little vase that evening.
