Ages:

Est. Time:

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. empty container (with lid) - peanut butter jar, water bottle, etc.
  2. paint
  3. glue gun
  4. bottle caps
  5. googly eyes (optional)
  6. pipe cleaner
  7. craft foam
  1. Clean an empty food container and remove the labels. You will also need 4 bottle caps (from water bottles).

  2. Paint the container and bottle caps. After they're dry, an adult should cut a slit in the container's top, where the coins will drop in.

  3. Make the lid of the container the pig's nose by adding two black circles with a permanent marker. Use the glue gun and glue on the googly eyes. We glued ours onto the edge of the lid. If you don't have googly eyes, you can use a permanent marker to draw them on.

  4. Cut triangles or half circles out of craft foam to use as the pig's ears. Use the hot glue gun to attach them.

  5. Curl a pipe cleaner for the pig's tail. Attach it to the bottom of the container with the hot glue gun.

  6. For the pig's feet, attach the bottle tops to the bottom with the hot glue gun.

  7. Let it dry and you are ready to start saving! You can make your bank into any animal using this same process. A cow, a dog, or even a caterpillar would be fun.
