Spring Garden Collage
How we did it:
- chalk (optional)
- crayons (optional) - or oil pastels
- fabric (optional) - scraps
- felt (optional) - scraps
- paper (optional) - scraps
- buttons (optional)
- craft glue
This one's open-ended! It's a collage, so you get to use whatever you have.
Madeleine wanted a blue background for her garden, so she took a piece of regular chalk and rubbed the paper.
Next I showed her how to rub the chalk into the paper with her hands,
and, since we were gluing things to the paper, I gave her a paper towel. She rubbed the excess off the paper so the glue would stick. She washed the chalk off her hands, and then set to work! She took an oil pastel, drew on grass, then applied glue to make a flower.
She wanted a sun out of bright felt, so we cut a circle and some tiny strips.
A tulip, a bird with pastels (and a beak of felt), buttons for flowers...so fun! I love how happy Madeleine was with her collage, and knew just when it was complete!
Should there be a butterfly?
What else can be dreamed up?
What can you imagine for your spring garden?
