Sun Mask

Sun Mask

Summer is here. The sun is out and we're celebrating! This sun mask was the beginning of many more summer themed crafts. I loved seeing how the kids played with their masks on. I now know what they imagine the sun would say if he or she had a voice. Pretty funny!

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. paper plates
  2. tissue paper - yellow
  3. glue
  4. scissors
  5. craft stick - large
  6. masking tape
  7. markers
  1. I gathered all of the materials and cut the yellow tissue paper into strips.

  2. The kids got to work gluing the tissue strips around the paper plate to create the sun rays. My two-year-old is really into glue and anything he can put it on right now, so this was perfect to keep him busy for a while.

  3. We used dot painters to decorate the sun. I thought the kids would want to add faces, but they kept it realistic and opted for just adding more color.

  4. On the back we taped a large craft stick so they could use the sun as a fun mask. I helped cut out eyes on each mask and we were all set.

  5. They loved talking like the "sun" while holding up their sun masks!
