Toy Car Wash

Toy Car Wash

Create a car wash for your matchbox cars! It's sure to lead to hours of fun!

Ages:
4 - 7
Est. Time:
1-2 hours

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. cereal box
  2. glue, tape, or staples
  3. fabric scraps
  4. toilet paper tubes (2)
  1. Open the top and bottom of an empty cereal box and cut along one side. Cut a rectangular opening in both sides of the box.

  2. Turn the box inside out and tape it shut.

  3. Take a scrap of fabric (the same width as your opening) and cut it into strips stopping before you reach the top. Do the same thing with strips of fabric that are wide enough to wrap around your toilet paper tubes. We used 3 strips of fabric for each toilet paper tube, but 2 would also work. If you don't have fabric on hand, you can also use tissue paper or gift wrap, but it may not hold up as long.

  4. Use tape, a stapler, or glue to attach a strip just inside the opening of the box. Attach the rest of the strips around the toilet paper tubes.

  5. Decorate the front and back of your carwash with paint, stickers, markers, or whatever you like. Don't forget to name it.

  6. Gather your small cars and toys and get ready for some fun!

  7. We even got out some lego guys to help take the money at the entrance and at the exit to park the cars.

  8. The hardest part for me was letting them decorate it themselves. I had a vision of what I thought it should look like and they had a different one. But in the end, they really made it their own and played with it nonstop the rest of the day!
