Washer Necklaces and Bracelets
How we did it:
- washers - any size
- nail polish
Gather your favorite colors of nail polish and a few steel washers (inexpensive at a hardware store). You can use any size washer. We used smaller ones (1/4") because I like how that size looks on the ribbon, but bigger sizes may be easier for little hands to paint.
Use the nail polish to paint each washer. You could paint a solid color, patterns, designs, or a swirl of several colors. If you want to write a message or apply small details, a toothpick is the perfect tool.
I must say that this was her dream craft! She wanted to keep painting and adding more polish to each one. The beauty of it is that it doesn't even matter exactly how they are painted, they all seem to turn out beautifully!
Once they are dry (they should dry in less than an hour), put a clear coat of nail polish on to seal. Next, repeat the steps with the back of the washer.
Once the washers are completely dry, use a slip knot to tie a piece of ribbon onto the washer. We now have one to match each of her favorite outfits!
You can also make bracelets by threading the ribbon through each washer twice to secure it or by tying knots. Such a cute gift!
