Family Love Garland
Love is in the air...and hanging from the doorways with this fun Valentine's Day garland! With some paper and ribbon, the kids took the idea of creating Valentine's Day cards one step further and displayed the reasons they loved their siblings for all the family to see!
How we did it:
- construction paper
- heart-shaped cookie cutters (or template)
Gather all your materials. We used pink, purple, red, and yellow construction paper. We also used various-sized heart-shaped cookie cutters, but you could also make some templates out of card stock.
The kids traced and cut out hearts of various sizes and colors. We made six for each member of our family so that everyone could say something nice about everyone else.
Then we used markers to write the name of every member of our family at the top of each heart. The kids wrote messages to every member of the family telling them something that they loved about them. It was so sweet to see my boys writing things that they liked about their brothers. My oldest son even wrote that he loved my cooking!
Then, we hung strips of ribbon from the doorway to the kitchen since everyone could see them there.
We rolled small pieces of packaging tape and stuck them on the back of each heart. Then the kids taped the hearts to the ribbons hanging from the doorway. The tape held surprisingly well considering how many times my two-year-old ran through the garland.
The kids loved reading through all the hearts with their names on them and I loved having these fun decorations hanging around the house as a festive reminder of what it looks like when all my kids are getting along! In fact, we ended up hanging them in the kids' bedroom doorway so they would be the first things they saw when they woke up.
