Flying Bat Ornaments

How we did it:
Materials List
- egg carton
- scissors
- paint
- paintbrushes
- glue
- googly eyes
- string
-
Grab an egg carton from your recycling bin and gather the rest of the materials needed. We used dental floss for our string because it's inexpensive and my daughter gets a kick out of it!
-
I drew a line with a marker, so my daughter could cut the top half of the egg carton off on her own. Kids love helping with the prep work, so include them as much as possible.
-
Cut egg carton into sections of 3. Cut "u" shapes on each end to create wings on the front and back. (Younger kids may need grownup help with this step.)
-
Paint the egg carton on the inside and outside. My daughter made one black bat and two polka-dotted ones.
-
Let your paint dry and then glue googly eyes onto the center carton. I give my daughter a paint brush for gluing because it's easier and a lot more fun.
-
Optional: Add some white triangle pieces for "fangs." My daughter opted to use her pretty purple stickers.
-
Poke two holes in the middle carton and thread a knotted string through each hole to create a loop.
-
Hang your egg carton bat for the perfect Halloween decoration. If you can hang it near a window, even better-- your child will get a chance to see it "fly"!
