Magic Reindeer Food

Magic Reindeer Food

Sprinkle this sparkly mixture over your snow or lawn to make sure the reindeer will see your house from afar! We make this with sugar instead of glitter so that it's safe for all the little creatures.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. oats (1/2 cup)
  2. sugar (1/2 cup)
  3. food coloring (red or green)
  4. jar or bowl ( for storage)
  1. We make our own colored sparkling sugar because it's so easy to make!

  2. Maddie and Trev each poured a half cup of sugar into their bowls, then added a few drops of coloring.

  3. Stir, add color, stir and add a couple more drops... we did that until their color was just right.

  4. Add in a half cup of oats.

  5. We mixed them in bowls, but for easy (er--and less messy!) mixing after you color the sugar, you could put them in jars with lids or seal the ingredients in a ziplock for mixing.

  6. We put the mixture in storage jars--after tasting it, of course. "Do you think it will make me fly?" asked Madeleine.

  7. We then tied on pretty ribbons.

  8. If you're gifting your magic reindeer food, make a little tag with instructions for sprinkling on Christmas Eve!
