How we did it:
- whole cloves
- toothpick (1) - (or fork)
- carving tool - (optional)
Use the carving tool to cut channels into the peel of your orange. If you don't wish to carve your oranges, skip to step 3.
Tip: Orange juice can squirt out! Protective eyewear is recommended for those who are sensitive.
Try straight lines, spirals, or even criss-crossed lines!
Once your design is cut into your orange, it's time to start decorating it with cloves!
Using a fork or toothpick, poke holes through the orange peel wherever you want to place a clove. The more cloves you use, the better your orange will smell and the longer it will last!Tip: Be careful not to crush the cloves as you press them in. It might smell nice, but clove dust will end up everywhere.
Keep poking holes and pressing in cloves until your design is finished. Make a few more with different designs!
If you want to hang them from a tree - or just add a little bit of extra flair - tie festive ribbons around your oranges!
