My son discovered smoothies while we were on a trip to go see his grandmother. He decided after his first sip that they were super delicious and we needed to make them at home. After researching different ways to make smoothies, we settled on one that has only four healthy ingredients. Now we make them all the time! This pumpkin smoothie is definitely a family favorite.
How we did it:
- milk (1 cup)
- honey (1 tablespoon)
- pumpkin puree (1 cup)
- yogurt (1 cup)
My son filled the ice cube tray with pumpkin puree, and then we put it in the freezer for three hours. The pumpkin cubes really need to be solid to work well in this recipe.
After freezing the pumpkin, we gathered the other ingredients.
The yogurt goes into the blender next. You may need to use a spatula to scrap the sides if some of it sticks to the cup. My son loves to scrape when he gets the chance.
Milk is the liquid we use in this recipe. (If you would prefer to add juice to the recipe instead, apple cider or apple juice also work well in this recipe.)
When the pumpkin cubes were ready, we added them to the mix.
None of the ingredients in this smoothie are sweet. My son likes to add a little bit of sweetness to the recipe by adding a tablespoon of honey. The honey adds to the smoothness of the smoothie too.
Your blender may have a smoothie function button on it. I know our does, but my son likes to experiment and try different function buttons. You may want to discover which function gives you the kind of smoothie texture you enjoy.
After the smoothie is blended, go ahead and serve your concoction. My son quickly gulped his down and asked for seconds!
