Recycled Holiday Card Ornaments

Recycled Holiday Card Ornaments

I love homemade Christmas ornaments, especially those with family photos in them. These are so simple and easy for my children to make for extended family. And we love decorating our own Christmas tree with beautiful family memories.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. photo christmas card (or any other image you want in an ornament)
  2. contact paper
  3. hole punch
  4. scissors
  5. ribbon
  1. I tend to order way too many Christmas cards each year. I am always left with that pile that I just wish I could reuse. I finally found a use for those last few extra cards.

  2. First, have your child cut out the photos from the card they would like to use. Emma does not need an excuse to pull out some fancy scissors and loves cutting with them. They seem to be easier for my kids to use and they give our ornaments a pretty border.

  3. After the photos are cut, place the photos between two pieces of contact paper and seal the edges.

  4. They are already looking pretty and each one represents special memories that we can hang from our tree. I love that.

  5. Punch a hole where you would like the ribbon to go.

  6. Now for some fun fine motor practice: Thread a festive colored ribbon through the photo.

  7. We tied each one and added the photos to our tree. I loved how they came out. We will be sending a few of these to Grandma for sure!
