Just a slight flick of the wrist will send this flyer soaring--try holding it different ways to see what gives you the longest soar! Maybe you can launch it from a balcony or the top of a slide...

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. straw
  2. paper
  3. scissors
  4. tape
  1. We used mid-weight paper for our flyer.

  2. We cut two strips of paper, each a little over an inch wide--one about four inches long, and one about six inches long.

  3. We made a loop with the first piece, and used a very small piece of tape to secure it...

  4. ...then we taped the straw inside the loop, and pressed fingers in it to seal it well.

  5. For the smaller loop, we taped the straw onto the piece of paper first (making sure it lined up with the other end), then taped it to make the loop.

  6. It was finished! Just a little flick sends this simple flyer soaring a good distance!
