    Good but not great.

My son loved this crate as much as his first and it was easy to assemble. However I had two problems with it... first, he was never able to get it to function properly as a timer. The marbles kept falling off the last arm before it went down enough to trigger the next marble. Second, the little foam piece at the bottom did NOT contain the marbles. He lost 3 of them in the first 10 minutes because they were falling all over the floor. I also wish the finished product could be stored somehow in the original box.

Plays with it day after day

My son, 8, usually loses interest in toys and such quickly. He has gone back to this marble timer day after day. I, mom, even find it fun and soothing. The sound of the marble running the track changes every time you adjust the wooden pieces, it is nice and melodic, he is usually shouting "come hear this one!". This was a great purchase and we are always pleased with Kiwico items.

    Keeps him busy

This Marble Timer has been keeping my son so busy! He loved designing the board and seeing it come to life. Testing out the different speeds was fun!

    Time is an interesting topic

This marble powered mechanism was so interesting as I saw my kid build it and keep changing the elements on the board to see how the time was affected. A really innovative way to bring in the topic of time.

    Love the subject

Learning about mechanics and building was a great subject for my daughter to learn about. I saw her confidence shine as she was experimenting with the board pieces.

    Moments made

Thank you KiwiCo. This marble timer crate was a great family bonding experience between me and my daughter. She has learned so much in just one box.

    Focused in

Seeing him design new paths over and over was amazing. I could not believe how focused and entertained he was for so long. The best part was knowing that he was learning the whole time!

    Fast and slow!

He kept playing games to see the fastest the marbles could go and also the slowest the marbles could go. He was very into it and it made him more interested in science.

I loved how the timer was incorporated with the dry time for the wooden pieces. Such a great way to infuse creativity and science!

    Applicable science concepts

Loved that the marble activity introduced my son to Newton's law of motion and made him think. This is something that sparked his imagination and had easy to follow instructions so I didn't have to step in too often.

    Both science and art

We really enjoyed the engineering aspect of creating different marble runs to time different things. It took a little bit of work to make the joint work correctly, but once we did my child played with it for hours! The timer is still sitting on our counter to show off to visitors.

    Fun and engaging

My grandson loved being able to build the marble timer himself and then had lots of fun watching the marbles run their course. He then experimented with changing the shelves. A great experiment for him! He also enjoyed dyeing the ornaments and wanted me to make them into a necklace so he could always show them off!
