My son is 4.5 years old. He had no trouble at all putting together the xylophone/tambourine. The concept was too simplistic. Self-composing is good but a music sheet with a melody that can be played with the four keys on the xylophone would be a nice addition to the crate.

My 4 year old son has done numerous krates and he is so excited to do them!!!! We love all the different themes! They always include everything you need to make decent quality projects,with easy to follow direction and a story to go with the theme!!!  He calls them his ‘homework box’! Thank you for this great idea for mom and child to make and learn together!!

My son would not set down his tambourine! He loved the sounds it made and really got him more interested in musc. I am excited for him and hope this opens him up to a new hobby!
