      Festivals: Festa Junina

    1. It's not as famous as Carnival, but Festa Junina is a down-home version of the same kind of fun. Every June, people dress up in straw hats and country-style clothes — some of them even paint freckles on their cheeks! Everyone gets together to dance, eat treats, and celebrate the end of autumn. Which makes sense: because Brazil is below the equator, autumn there ends in June!

      Wildlife: Pygmy Marmoset

    1. There is a small monkey living in Brazil's Amazon rainforest. Actually, not just a small monkey — the smallest monkey in the world! Pygmy marmosets are tiny enough to fit in a person's hand, and they weigh less than a deck of cards. Since they're so small, they have to keep an eye out for predators. It's a good thing that their heads can turn completely backward so they can see behind themselves!

      Awesomeness: Critter Cash

    1. Of all the countries in the world, Brazil is one of the most biodiverse, which means it has many different animal species. Brazilians are so proud of their wildlife, they print native animals on their money, called the real. From the sapphire-spangled emerald hummingbird on the 1 real note to the jaguar on the 50, every bill features a different beautiful beast.
