- This flashy fellow is viewed by many as the unofficial bird of Peru. The Quechua people of the Andes mountains call him tunki, but he’s also known as The Andean cock-of-the-rock, a name that really works with that flashy hairstyle. Rock on, little dude!

- The multi-colored macaw likes to hang out by the Amazon river with a few hundred close friends. They collect clay from the river bank and then head for the trees to eat it! We’re not sure why macaws get the munchies for clay, but some naturalists think it might be because it has salt that they need for their health.

- If you visit Peru’s Manu National Park and hear something hissing, groaning, croaking, or grunting overhead, don’t panic. It might just be a hoatzin. If you’re still not sure, take a deep sniff. The hoatzin is so famous for its bad breath, its nickname is the stink bird!
