Make a Paper Snowflake
Have you ever caught a snowflake on your mitten and looked closely? A snowflake isn’t just a frozen raindrop. It starts when a super-cold water droplet freezes onto a speck of dust or pollen high in the sky. As that tiny ice crystal falls, water vapor freezes onto it, building the six arms you see on star-shaped snowflakes.
Paper snowflakes can have six arms too, if you fold them the right way. In this game, grab a square of paper and fold it corner to corner, into thirds, and in half again. Then snip out shapes, stamp hearts and stars, and nibble the edges while the circle shows what your snowflake will look like. When you’re ready, unfold it and hang it in a frosty window.
How many different snowflakes can you make?
Once your paper snowflake is hanging, build some winter decorations next. With the Snowy Sports Ornaments Advent Calendar, build twelve ornaments over twelve days, each one a different winter sport.
