Ocean Sensory Tray

Ocean Sensory Tray

This is so very simple to set up, but sparks hours of imaginative play. It's amazing what a little color change to water does! Perfect for a summer day.

How we did it:

Materials List

  1. large container - rectangular works best
  2. water
  3. liquid watercolor or food color - blue
  4. sea creature toys
  1. We did this on a warm day and it was the perfect answer to our afternoon. It took me seconds to set-up and the kids loved it! You can use any large container. I like to have these Rubbermaid bins on hand for sensory fun tables. They work great!

  2. The kids helped me by adding a few drops of liquid watercolors to the bin. Next, they enjoyed adding water with the hose. Something about the hose always makes them happy.

  3. Sea animal figurines are great fun in this ocean. Shells, rocks and small containers would be great, too.

  4. They played with this for a long time and continued to visit it for several days. There were a lot of animal rescue scenes happening. I love seeing their imaginations in full force!
