Paper Football

Are you the type that would rather play football than sit down and watch it? Get creative and have fun playing with this miniature football game!

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

    Gather your materials!

  • Step 2

    Paint the popsicle sticks and the paper cups yellow. Wait about 30 minutes for them to dry before moving onto the next step.

  • Step 3

    Notch together three popsicle sticks to form a goal post and glue them in place. Repeat to make a second goal post. Let the glue dry for at least 30 minutes before moving onto the next step.

  • Step 4

    Glue the goalposts to the bottom of the cups as pictured. Let the glue dry while completing steps 5-14.

  • Step 5

    Fold the paper in half lengthwise.

  • Tip

    We used white paper to make it easier to see how to fold the paper football. Use the brown paper in this step.

  • Step 6

    Then, fold it in half widthwise, making a crease in the middle of the paper.

  • Step 7

    Unfold the paper once and fold the bottom right corner towards the left side so that the top of the fold meets the crease you made in step 6.

  • Step 8

    Fold the left tab up towards the top of the vertical tab once.

  • Step 9

    Flip the paper over. Then, fold the right tab over the vertical middle tab.

  • Step 10

    Flip the paper over. Then, fold the right tab towards the middle tab so that it lines up with the edge. Then, tuck it into the right corner of the triangle.

  • Step 11

    Fold the top tab down towards the triangle.

  • Step 12

    Fold the top tab again so that it makes a small square. Then, tuck the tab into the triangle.

  • Step 13

    Fold the top right corner of the square towards the bottom left corner. Then, tuck it into the triangle.

  • Step 14

    Use masking tape to create the threads on the football.

  • Final result!

    Decorate your goalposts, set up your football field, and start playing!
