Step-by-step tutorial
Step 1
Take a paper tube and decorate the sides with construction paper.
Step 2
Cut out a 1.5" circle in cardstock. Cut out a 3"x3" square in tissue paper. Glue the circle to the center of the tissue paper. This will be the pinata's pull tab.
Step 3
Cut 12" of string and tie a bead at one end.Using a toothpick, poke a hole in the center of the cardstock circle. Push the string through the hole and pull it through. The bead will anchor the string to the circle.
Step 4
Align the circle with the opening of the paper tube, with the bead inside the tube. Wrap the tissue paper around the tube and secure it with a rubber band.
Step 5
Punch 2 holes at the other end of the tube and thread a 24" piece of string through both holes. Leave it untied for now
Step 6
Cut out a 3-4" circle and cut a slit from the center to the edge. Overlap the two flaps to create a cone. Tape it together.
Step 7
Using a toothpick, poke a small hole at the tip of the cone and thread the two strings through the top. The cone should now be on top of the tube. Tie a knot in the string .
Step 8
Loosen the cone cap slightly, and fill the tube with pom poms, candy, or confetti. Push the cap back down once the rocket is filled.
Final result!
Hang up your rocket pinata and when you are ready, pull the string down to release the treats inside!Create a bunch, each with different fillings, to make for a surprise-filled celebration.Best of all, these rocket pinatas reusable. Simply refill the tube and replace the tissue paper cap.
