Soap Carving

Carving is not just for pumpkins! My daughter loved carving bars of soap into anything she wished and she loved using her special soap afterwards.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

    We had some old pumpkin carving tools that worked well for this. We also found that sharpening one side of a popsicle stick on the ground makes for a great tool.

  • Step 2

    First, Emma used a pencil to draw her image into the soap.

  • Step 3

    She chose a flower. For younger kids, shapes with little details are the best for this craft.

  • Step 4

    Next, she began to scrape away soap from around the flower. She was collecting all of her soap scraps as she did this. I think they ended up in her mud pie kitchen outside. Nothing wasted! I like that!

  • Step 5

    I think she did a great job and she couldn't wait to use her fancy new soap.
