Yarn Door Tassel

Any craft that can be used as home decor is a bonus in my book. I love displaying things my kids make! These door tassels are a fun way to add some creativity and color to your doors. We made this one for our guest room for the holidays since my parents will be staying with us.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

We took last night's pizza box and cut out a rectangle about 7 inches x 4 inches. Then we cut then ends so we would be able to wrap the yarn around (see picture).

  • Step 2

Then Clare wrapped the yarn around, the more the better.

  • Step 3

Then we cut a piece of yarn and tied it around one of the ends. Make sure that this knot is tight because it holds every thing together.

  • Step 4

Than I cut the other end of the yarn.

  • Step 5

We added some beads to decorate the tassel and tied the sting in a knot to make a loop.

These tassels can be made in different sizes and different colors to compliment the room they go in. You and your child can explore the different possibilities together -- which is part of the fun.
