Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

    Gather your materials. What kind of animal are you going to make? Here's an example to give you inspiration!

  • Step 2

    Start by rolling a small ball of clay for the head and a large ball for the body. Cut a small piece of pipe cleaner and use it to attach the smaller ball of clay to the larger one. You may need to ask a grownup for help cutting the pipe cleaner.

  • Step 3

    To add more detail, mold clay into little feet, arms, eyes or anything else you can think of! You can also use the toothpick to carve realistic details, or buttons to make a head or body parts! You can paint some buttons to help decorate your animal.

  • Step 4

    Attach your newly formed arms, feet, ears, and tails to the animal using pipe cleaner. Stick the pipe cleaner into the clay to secure all of your attachments.

  • Final result!
