Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

Pipe cleaners are a crafting favorite in our house. We're always on the lookout for new colors and styles. Well, I am glad we had so many choices on hand this day. The super fuzzy one and the striped ones made for one cute caterpillar--but any pipe cleaner you have will leave you with one cute critter!

  • Step 2

Start by wrapping a pipe cleaner (or two) around a pencil. I would start each one for my daughter and hand it off to her to finish.

  • Step 3

Once the pipe cleaner is wrapped all the way around, just slide it right off the pencil.

  • Step 4

Add some googly eyes with glue and you have yourself a fuzzy-wuzzy buggy! (If you don't have googly eyes, sequins work great, too.)

  • Step 5

We pretty much fell in love with these caterpillars. They are so sweet. We have now placed them all around our house and, yes, every single one has a name.

Oh and they may have a home or two as well and a few leaves to chomp on. What can I say, we live in a dramatic household.
