Holiday Gnome

We have a thing for gnomes! There I said it. I am not sure why or when it happened, but we are now a gnome collecting household. They are so adorable and magical. I heart them and so does my daughter who insisted on transforming our Styrofoam cone (almost Christmas tree craft) into a darling little gnome with a pink beard.

Step-by-step tutorial

  • Step 1

It takes a lot less than I imagined to build a gnome. We gathered our few things and got to work on this darling little one.

  • Step 2

First, we wrapped the cone in a neutral color felt with a little tacky glue.

  • Step 3

Next, we added a red gnome hat by just wrapping the top portion of the cone with red felt and a little more glue.

  • Step 4

For the beard, we tied small pieces of yarn to a large strand of yarn. Emma did the cutting (her favorite part) and I tied each one on.

  • Step 5

Next, she added a couple of buttons and a pom pom to become our sweet gnome face.

  • Final result!

I helped to tie our beard around the cone and our little gnome was all set for a day in the garden with mushrooms and fairies! Or he may just sit on our mantel and look cute. To each his own.
